The Chinese name of the Elephant Nose Fish is White Sturgeon , also known as the Chinese paddlefish, is the largest freshwater fish in China. Because the snout of the elephant-nosed fish is very long and looks like an elephant trunk, it is also known as the elephant-nosed fish. Elephant-nosed fish are large and violent fishes that are mainly found in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. They can also survive in the brackish and freshwater waters of the estuary, and occasionally join the huge lakes along the river. The elephant trunk fish is a semi-anadromous fish.
