Coconut cat
The coconut cat is also called a coconut civet. In biological taxonomy, it belongs to the category of lactation. Class Mammalia, order Carnivora, family Felidae, genus Felidae, and cats in our traditional sense (such as folded-eared cats, Persian cats, etc.) belong to class Mammalia, order Carnivora, family Felidae, and genus Felis. In China, there are 56 species of carnivores in 8 families, so coconut cats are not “cats” in our traditional sense.
Since it is not a cat, why should we take it out and study it? It's because Coconut Cat is closely related to a food we are familiar with, that is cat poop coffee. Cat poop coffee is "consumed" by this little animal.
Coconut civet and Indonesian KopiLuwak coffee are produced in Sumatra, Indonesia, which is famous for its high-quality coffee. Its production process is very mysterious and interesting. On the island, there are small mammals called coconut civets, which the locals call Luwak. The favorite food of these small animals is a kind of red coffee beans, but these little guys cannot digest these beans. , but infiltrate them into the forest, so that local people can easily collect these coffee beans fermented by coconut civet stomach acid and enzymes.
Through such a special fermentation process, these beans have a very special taste; also because of this special collection process, KopiLuwak coffee beans are very rare, and the annual average output is only 500 pound arrangement, selling for up to $300 per pound!
