The species classification of Shandong lion cats is mainly based on coat color. It can be roughly divided into the following four types:

One is the white lion cat.

The coat is white and unadulterated. Its eyes are divided into three types: mandarin duck eyes (i.e. one yellow eye and one blue eye) or double blue eyes and double yellow eyes, with the mandarin duck eyes being the most precious.

The second is the black lion cat.

It looks like a white lion cat, but its body is slightly longer, its eyes are yellow, its body is white except for its shoulders, and its belly fur is gray-white, because it is several poles. Even though they are small, they are also regarded as treasures.

The third is to whip the hydrangeas.

It is shaped like a white lion cat. There are black spots on the forehead, and the tail is black, long and pointed, and can be thrown to the head, so it is called "whipped hydrangea".

Fourth is the Lion cat.

Some of the back hairs are gray-brown with tiger spots; some are white with black and yellow spots. According to cat breeders, this species is the offspring of a cross between a white lion cat and a common cat.
