The shape characteristics of the yellow-throated water turtle (confirmed introduction)

The yellow-throated water turtle The water turtle (certain introduction) is also called the stone turtle, and some people call it the gold turtle. It is regarded as the embodiment of beautiful desires. Why does the yellow-throated turtle have these "nicknames"? The important reason lies in its appearance characteristics. This is a turtle that "changes color."

The yellow-throated water turtle has a carapace about 15-20cm long, a small head, a smooth top, olive green, a concave upper beak in the middle, a clear saturated membrane, and two stripes on the side of the head. Yellow lines pass through the eyes, and the throat is light yellow. The carapace is flat, brownish-yellow-green or brown-black, with three ridges, the middle one being more prominent, and the trailing edge slightly serrated. The plastron is yellow, and there are large ink stains on the outside of each scute. The hands and feet are relatively flat, brownish gray on the outside and yellow on the inside. The forelimbs have five fingers, the hindlimbs have four toes, there are webs between the fingers and toes, and the tail is short and thin.

The body color of the yellow-throated water turtle changes during its growth, with the head color changing the fastest. If the resting state of the yellow-throated aquatic turtle is changed during periods of frequent activity, it may only take a few weeks or less for the yellow-throated aquatic turtle's head color to change significantly. People also found that in the original resting place of the yellow-throated terrapin, the yellow-throated terrapins of the same age group resting in the same stream have basically the same coloration of their hands, feet and carapace. If it rests in a stream full of black pebbles, the shell color of the yellow-throated water turtle will gradually turn black, and it will look like all the pebbles in the stream. It is estimated that the nickname "stone turtle" came from this.
