Shar Pei breed introduction
Shar Pei dog (confirm introduction)

Shar-Pei has about 2000 years of experience. This breed is actually very conflicting. People who like it like it very much, but there are not many who hate it. The characteristic of the Shar-Pei is that it has many wrinkles on its skin, which may be difficult for Chinese aesthetics. However, the Shar-Pei is a very popular dog breed overseas.

The Shar-Pei, also known as the Dali Dog, is one of the smallest surviving dog breeds in the world. The Shar-Pei was trained and bred for dog fighting in the past, and it was around the 1950s. In the early 1990s, there were fighting arenas for Shar-Pei dogs in Guangdong. By the 1960s and 1970s, the dog declined in China. However, in the 1970s after the Shar-Pei was introduced to the United States, Shar-Pei fever started in the United States today. The "Chinese Shar-Pei Club" covers all states in the United States, with more than 10,000 officially registered Shar-Pei dogs. In the center of Chinese paintings during the Han Dynasty, portraits similar to Shar-Pei dogs appeared. There was a time when the Shar-Pei faced the danger of extinction. Later, American breeders made considerable efforts to continue this dog breed, which is a kind of irony.

Although the ancestor of the Shar-Pei has not yet been determined, there is no dispute that its place of origin is Guangdong Province, China.
