The green sea turtle has a slightly triangular head, dark brown, yellow cheeks, dark gray neck, tip of snout, yellow-white mouth, and nostrils on the upper side of the snout. The eyes are large, there is a pair of forehead scales on the forehead, the upper jaw has no hooks, the left and right mandibular lips have fine horny serrations, the mandibular lip teeth are longer and longer than the upper jaw, and the teeth fall into the inner edge of the maxillary groove, and the tongue has degenerated. The back and abdomen are flat, and the plastron is yellow. The carapace is oval, dark brown or dark green, with yellow spots on it. The scutes are inlaid with patterns radiating from the center to all sides, and the color is mixed and beautiful. There are 5 vertebral shields in the center, 4 side shields on each side, and 7 marginal shields on each side. The hands and feet are specialized into fin-like radial feet, which can be used to paddle and swim dexterously in the water like a paddle.

The green turtle's forelimbs are light brown with yellowish white edges, and the hind limbs are slightly darker than the forelimbs. Each of the inner toes has a claw, and the claws on the forelimbs are large, twisted, and hook-shaped. The male has a longer tail, equivalent to half of its body length, and the female has a shorter tail. After the spine at the tail is treated with hydrochloric acid, the annual rings can be vaguely seen.
